An Introduction to Kerrie Cason: Easy Ways to Go Green Yoga Instructor
My name is Kerrie Cason, and I have been practicing yoga for over eight years with a focus on hatha yoga and vinyasa flow during the last six years.
I suppose my life experience is what has led me to the path of yoga; once I discovered it, there was nothing else I wanted to do.
I grew up overseas and traveled for most of my youth, seeing different cultures and art and people. This all affected who I am and made me curious about the philosophies of India and other countries in South East Asia.
Kerrie Cason’s Journey Into and Through Yoga
I began practicing yoga in San Francisco, but soon moved to Los Angeles.
There, I studied for a year or so at Steven Earth’s Power Yoga with Andrea Marcum, and then found my home with Center For Yoga on Larchmont in Hancock Park.
Yogaworks purchased CFY a few years ago, only to expand the incredible group of teachers already there.
In April of 2007, I took Yogaworks 200 Hour Teacher Training program and began my career with the guidance of Jeanne Heileman and Carmen Fitzgibbon.
Other teachers who have provided a tremendous influence on my own practice include Colleen Garrity, Amy Lafond, Steve Walther, Peter Barnett and Whitney Allen.
Why Kerrie Cason Recommends Yoga
I am as interested in the spiritual aspects of what yoga has to offer as I am interested in the asanas themselves. Yoga is more than the pose you put yourself into, it’s the breath and the slow, steady movement. It is the quieting of your mind and the act of really looking deep inside yourself; it is the opening and offering of your heart.
Yoga can create space inside each of us, removing the old spiritual and physical waste in order to invite in the benefits of a purer heart and mind.
I see myself as a lifelong student who will share all that I learn with my students. I am pleased to share this journey with each one of you.
